Female altar servers are girls or women who assist the priest during Mass and other liturgical ceremonies in the Catholic Church. They may help with tasks such as carrying the processional cross, holding the book for the priest, and assisting with the preparation of the altar. This change has been seen as a way to promote greater participation of women in the liturgical life of the Church. **

Scouts may not necessarily dislike altar servers, but there may be a perception that being an altar server conflicts with the time commitment and responsibilities of being a scout. Altar serving often involves regular commitments to serve at religious ceremonies, which may conflict with scout meetings, events, or camping trips. Additionally, some scouts may feel that altar serving is not aligned with the values and activities of scouting, leading to a lack of interest in altar serving among scouts. **
